Suggestion: Other Jutsu types and Mechanics
Nagao Hideki replied to question's Shang Chi in Suggestions (Old)
I really like the 4 man barrier formation, with the only suggestion being that those trapped in it should be able to counter the jutsu in some way as getting caught in one of these by a 4 man squad out hunting would mean instant death. If it were something like the Four Violet Flames formation the people caught in it could all be dealt a certain amount of damage and burn but the jutsu would disappear right after and would have a bigger cooldown to prevent people abusing it. A more advanced version of this would be the Four Red Yang Formation which would take 4 people who previously held or actively hold the title of Kage. As for the genjutsu I really like the idea of teleporting someone away to fight them, but I'd start off small with let's say the Racoon bandit's genjutsu being a lv. 1 jutsu while gradually moving up towards "Tsukuyomi" as the top tier genjutsu. Albeit I'm kind of conflicted here as Tsukuyomi is supposed to be a Mangekyo Sharingan dojutsu, which means it would only be available for members of a certain clan (and I'd go with Muteki here as they are basically based on the Uchiha) and one would have to spend A LOT of time to awaken the eyes to kind of balance it out. I'd suggest the teleportation genjutsu be available to all while Tsukuyomi would maybe render the target immobile for as long as the caster is not damaged in any way and it would also have a massive cooldown and require a lot of chakra. But these are just my takes on the suggestion. I really hope at least one of these get added into the game, would be better if we could have both in the future. -
Esty Sit Down Son You're Afraid of my Sand Ninjas
Nagao Hideki replied to topic's Prince Nik in Leaf Village
So are we just going to forget all the times Sand trapped up their gates to the brim and camped the entrance? The main reason Leaf or any other village does not want to push Sand's gate is because by the time you mapswitch and/or sub the traps you're dead meat due to the barrage of jutsu coming from the inside. If you're not certain of the traps / numbers Sand has while defending their village entrance it would take a complete madman to push that without considering the option of just heading home. Situations like these would be a whole different story if the villages would have multiple entrances as Leaf does. Hence Leaf is one of the easiest villages to push if we happen to hold gates, because people who did seals and unlocked the door to sewers just waltz on by and come popping out above us which is mostly a fight we can't win. Of course we could hold both sewers and the gate, but that also means splitting our numbers which usually ends up badly in case of a whole army raiding. Anyhow, bottom line is: Sand and Mist should have a second entrance in order to avoid situations like this and provide for more interesting gameplay. -
Nerf Iron Tower (Samurai numbers) [Suggestion]
Nagao Hideki replied to question's Hageshi in Suggestions (Old)
Can we just get a buff on the % of the key drop? I completely abandoned LoI when I hit 60, but until then I have been solo-grinding these samurai like a madman with not a single key drop even with a 20% bonus. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I came to farm the key on a 16% bonus and a Sand villager told me he dropped 2 of them in the last 15 minutes. As I talked to other players who we were kind of in the same boat with, we all seemed to agree that the RNG on this specific mission is completely messed up and the key should either have a higher drop rate or one would have to kill a set amount of samurai in order to obtain it and be able to move forward with the mission chain. -
I already posted this comment on another thread regarding this but I think it might give some insight here aswell: Sure, Fan and Pipe are essential when it comes to Hidden Masteries but I think many are missing the point when there's talk of a Leaf exclusive weapon. The issue doesn't lie in Leaf being in need of a village-only weapon (although it would be nice to have Chakra Blades, and I believe @Spooks already made a post regarding this topic with some Leaf villagers doing pixel art for the Blades), but rather that Fan and Pipe are available to all in their respective villages and the very fact that they can be used by everyone does not only break RP (e.g. how can ninja who didn't master Wind / Water release wield a fan or use a pipe?) but also puts Leaf shinobi at a disadvantage when fighting Sand or Mist (e.g. cancel ability of Fans / Mist elementals relying on bubble-snare combos) which makes fighting these villages frustrating to say the least due to the abundance of Fan / Pipe users. If one were to even the field, they'd have to (and this has been stated and ignored countless times before) lock Fan and Pipe to their Hidden Masteries. This would not only balance PvP but also restore RP as it would decrease the number of people using hidden weapons without the proper chakra nature and prevent the abuse of Fan / Pipe perks in combat.

Training Dummies in Villages or Designated Training Grounds
Nagao Hideki replied to topic's Xerith in Discussion
I tend to disagree. RP-wise it would only make sense for ninja to train on their own or within a team on a designated training ground. Of course sparring is a viable option when it comes to training offensive jutsu, but techniques such as Earth or Water prison are truly a pain to level during PvP or PvE. I would put summons in the same category too, as they are one of, if not, the biggest reason people AFK with PvP on in square and if there's no med around, leveling a summon usually lands someone in the hospital. The addition of training dummies would offer a better and safer alternative to leveling jutsu, and personally, I would love to see the 3 training logs in Leaf TG be turned into practice targets as well. It would add variety to the game, as people who are not really keen on PvP or PvE would have a safe spot to level their jutsu or summon while it would also create opportunities for RP (especially RP missions I or II) where instructors or sensei teach students the basics or different styles of shinobi combat. -
Muteki are mostly based on the Uchiha as they played a big part in founding the Leaf village and their clan members usually pursue a career in law enforcement (e.g. join the LMPF). It would only be natural for them to get the Sharingan (if implemented) while Ukiyo get the Byakugan. Both dojutsu could work as a temporary buff to stats with the eye colours changing upon activation.

Orgs that allow missing ninjas to not have ff with villages
Nagao Hideki replied to question's Kyreno in Suggestions (Old)
So why not bind it to the upcoming marriage system? It would not only allow members of different villages to relocate but also provide a legitimate RP platform for them to do so. -
Would be even better if only Ukiyo clan members would have access to it. Since Ukiyo is kind of based around the Hyuga (richest family in the Leaf village and all that) it would only be natural for the Byakugan to be limited to them as a dojutsu. As explained by Might Guy one can master the Gentle Fist without the Byakugan, but the dojutsu gives the user enhanced reflexes and eye-sight, hence it became the traditional fighting style of the clan. What would be even more interesting and add quite a bit of RP to the game if there were an option to have one Byakugan and one regular eye, as it would imply that a rival village managed to steal and implant the eye from a member of the clan into one of their villagers (like Ao in Shippuden).

This is exactly why the Sand Kazekage system is flawed at its core. Since lore-wise the successor of the Kazekage will usually be a member of their family this translated into Nin by applying a similar logic only with whom the current Kaze deems worthy as the next leader of the village. This however, while it’s not a bad idea initially, creates opportunities for people to rotate power in a constant loop between a closed group of friends or family. And since the Kazekage is absolute, they can run their village as they see fit. This leads to certain people who are on good terms with the current Kaze to gravitate towards the Sand village, whereby an “inner circle” is formed where power resides (promotions, orgs and higher-up ranks). Since these things are an issue for some players, on one hand I have to agree with Ueda as @BadQ can go, lvl up in Takumi relatively fast, maybe find a group of rogues to raid Sand only to pay the Kaze back for what he’s done (I think this would be great RP) while on the other hand I’d also have to give props to @Seifer as there should be a way of disposing if the Kage if the majority of people dislike how they run the village. The latter could be done with the implementation of a coup system where if the leaders of official Suna organisations (SMPF, Sand ANBU, Puppet Brigade) decide to dispose of the Kage they can notify the head GM and Kazekage of the “assassination” which could then take place in the southern area of Suna with the orgs best 10 vs the Kazekage and his best supporters. If the Kazekage lives, there can’t be anymore assassinations against them, if they die however they would lose their title and be exiled while the 3 leaders of official orgs decide upon the next Kazekage within the span of a week or so.

Orgs that allow missing ninjas to not have ff with villages
Nagao Hideki replied to question's Kyreno in Suggestions (Old)
Double life shouldn't be a thing as one is either part of a village or a missing nin. And while some may argue that "peace listing" rogues and removing FF may help the village in various ways, I tend to disagree. You can RP as a spy for a different village (e.g. let's say how Kabuto spied for Root and then Otogakure) but the fact that you can't attack or kill villagers because you're PL kind of kills the whole point as you're practically invincible even if you're caught red handed. Keeping in mind how Kabuto fought in the Suna invasion there'd be no point or excitement in spying since if a rogue with ill intentions gains the trust of a village they'll just abuse the system and walk away unharmed if a Kage doesn't take action in time. Also, the peace list is not really a thing outside of the Leaf which has already created confusion and cost quite a few battles, because we constantly have to check if someone's peace-listed or not before engaging. And here I have to agree with Boo as missing Leaf ninja could just get a pardon and be done with FF, while missings from other villages can make things work the way they used to and maybe not hop on and off the peace-list if they want to keep good relations with Leaf. If people happen to die in Leaf square due to a raid or in a spar with no med they can still respawn at Tanzaku for a small fee and waltz right back into the square. Bottom line is, I don't see any upsides to removing FF from PL players as it kills RP and would only result in the abuse of the new system. -
Fact is that toxicity has sadly become a core part of the game and playing Nin on a regular basis can taint even the kindest players as time goes on. During my 1 year period playing the game I realized that the community normalizes toxic behavior through either saying it's "RP" or just turning a blind eye to things people wouldn't dare say in real life because it's only a 2D game. My issue with this is mainly that when I found Nin, while I was searching for a fun Naruto-based game, I thought (mainly due to its 2D graphics) it would be a game that is child-friendly and as such has a community where things like ERP, racism and mobbing are not really a thing. The realization that Nin was in fact not the game I initially perceived it to be was kind of a double edged sword as on one side I was relieved since I'm not playing a game meant entirely for children, on the other hand I was taken aback by the amount of people calling each other every name in the book just because they either don't like a certain someone or want to take out their real life frustrations in-game. This leads to issues such as people who are good at PvP or are part of a larger group spam-killing or KoS-ing people they don't like, making it basically impossible for them to enjoy the game or high-level players spam-killing or demanding money from lowbies which makes people not want to play anymore. Villages aren't as safe and supportive as people might initially think either as they all share problems like people accusing new players of being alts or spies, not paying attention to lowbies' needs and ranked ninja (and I'm generalizing here) not helping out new players with RP because they can't be bothered to host missions after a while. People were all hyped for the Steam release and some new players even found the game through the site, but most of them didn't make it to 30 because the environment just isn't supportive of new arrivals. All I can suggest is that people who want to see change in the game keep on trucking and bring that change by trying to help out the new players as much as they can so they feel cared for, educate them on how to grow a thick skin against people being toxic to them in the DZs or while on the grind and tell them that Nin is a fun game all-in-all if they happen to find people who they share a similar mindset with. I don't think people who spread toxicity will change, as the current climate supports their behavior but things may change with time and if the game's community manages to turn a 180 and prioritize real "RP" over mobbing these people will either have to adapt or leave the game themselves. Until then let's just work on bettering ourselves and the community and maybe one day we'll get there. Peace.

I'm all for this! Should definitely be implemented as a small quality-of-life improvement, especially if someone wants to "activate" a Sharingan or Byakugan mid-RP, as it looks a bit odd for someone to change eye colors five times before they get what they intended, especially if they miss the color and have to re-do it again as it kind of kills the vibe.

I'd be all for adding more jutsu slots since even by lv. 60 you only get enough slots for all your basic techniques, 2 sets of mastery-bound jutsu, summoning and a jutsu of your choice. This means people are forced to play without fuuma, sensory or transformation, which are all fun and useful techniques in their own right. Expanding jutsu slots by 3 would definitely provide a feasible solution to the problem at hand.

Medical Corps is Dead; and it has an easy solution
Nagao Hideki replied to question's Prince Nik in Suggestions (Old)
It would be a good perk for Med-Corps members to work hospitals during raids with a jutsu that is similar to Mystical Palm that in turn makes BI fade faster. This would lock people to hospital beds for treatment, give chakra medics work inside of hospitals instead of power-healing BI warriors in a village counter-raid and significantly cut down the BI timer all while keeping the RP in-tact. -
Problem is we are talking about Neo-Akatsuki here, an organisation, which although shares the ideology of the original Akatsuki as seen in the show (from an RP perspective) consists of members which are the “best” PvPers in the game. Adding specs which would mirror the original org’s members to a T, although a fun idea, doesn’t make much sense lore-wise since the people these specs are based on have been dead for generations now. I don’t think that every Akatsuki generation should have a Kakuzu, Hidan, etc. mainly because it would become repetitive after a time and lock players to a certain play-style for 6 months. In my mind Akatsuki is an organisation which is the “peak” for players in Takumi, something every rogue aspires to be, which in turn creates a sense of fear when someone notifies the village that the org is out hunting or is preparing to raid a village. A good example of this was @Black Rain’s Akatsuki term where it was a real challenge to face them in a DZ even if there were only 2-3 members out. I would prefer the organisation have some purpose in-game other than being the most fearsome thing out there, like if the jinchuriki system (proposed by many players) would get implemented. This would create a dynamic between villages and Akatsuki since they would be tasked to collect all the bijuu, put them in the gedo-statue and once they have all 9 an all out war would erupt where the villages would either combine efforts to fight the organisation through a 3 Kage summit creating an allied shinobi force or try to solve things separately all while having to war against each other. Adding rare items and jutsu used by original Akatsuki members would be a good idea but I think they should be locket to specific masteries or contracts e.g.: To use Deidara’s clay bomb shuriken one should be an Earth/Lightning user as they combine into explosion release. To use Sasori’s puppets one has to have a puppet contract. To have Amaterasu / Kamui one must be from the Muteki clan (presuming the Sharingan gets added into the game as their clan jutsu) To use Kisame’s water style jutsu one must be from the Hidden Mist + be proficient in kenjutsu and water release. […] Of course these would all be optional, so if an Akatsuki leader wants to build their organisation in a different way people wouldn’t be left out as they don’t have the certain specs for the items and jutsu, which would add variety to the game. It would also be interesting to see Akatsuki operate in 2-man teams in terms of RP which would be able to bring down a bijuu, meaning that the buff + jutsu should be enough for them to easily win a 2v6 in a DZ. Of course this would imply that the screening process for membership should be tight on the GMs end so that players wouldn’t abuse the power to spread toxicity around the game. Lastly it would be great to see Akatsuki as an RP based organisation which would have strict rules regarding in-game toxic behaviour. This would provide interesting encounters between villagers on the hunt and Akatsuki members as different RP scenarios could play out in such meetings (e.g. Akat members letting a village hunting party go because they are just not interested in a fight, or them taking heads for sport and collecting money from BH like Kakuzu and Hidan did). This would mean that being Akatsuki is not only being the best in PvP but also RP, which would only allow a “toned-down” level of toxicity as in “now die” or such as opposed to the general bs people tend to say after a fight (we’ve probably all had an unhealthy dose of that by now). All in all I wouldn’t go down the road of turning people into Deidaras and Hidans all the way, rather provide an opportunity for people who have the specs available for them but wouldn’t lock them into these playstyles in order to add variety.

Hi All! After reading Yoneji's suggestion on deflecting projectiles [https://www.ninonline.org/forum/forums/index/topic/30600-blockdeflect-tools] I came up with an idea of canceling elemental jutsu with the element they are weak against (e.g. how a reanimated Hiruzen neutralized the 5 elemental attacks of the Ten-Tails by casting counter-jutsu with his shadow clones). This concept would mean that while some elements prevail against others, they each have a weakness in the cycle of elements as explained through Basic Nature Transformations: Fire is strong against Wind but weak against Water. Wind is strong against Lightning but weak against Fire. Lightning is strong against Earth but weak against Wind. Earth is strong against Water but weak against Lightning. Water is strong against Fire but weak against Earth. As explained by the Naruto Wiki: "Basically, if an elemental technique is put against another elemental technique of the same level, but of a stronger nature, then the technique with the superior nature will prevail." This could be broken down to different jutsu, which when put up against each other would be able to either counter or overpower each other. For example: If Shinobi A uses a Great Fireball Technique and Shinobi B counters it with a Great Water Shark it would either neutralize the fire jutsu or have an x % success rate of the water Jutsu overpowering it and dealing damage to Shinobi A. Keep in mind this system is flawed (would require some reworks) and would only apply to jutsu that are long-range + can be countered, so that one has time to cast and cancel the incoming one. Of course homings would remain unaffected because the only way to counter e.g. an Earth Pillar is to sub it or run out of range but I think it would add to the immersion and give the game a more realistic feel in terms of deflecting "large scale" jutsu. I know the idea sounds a bit far-fetched for Nin but I thought I'd put it out there since some may have a better take on the concept of how to make elemental masteries more diverse. Anyways, thanks for reading! Feel free to add any comments below.

I think walking Jonins are a great way to keep players on their toes even at times when villages are mostly empty. I remember quite a number of times where I got my guts scared out of me by a mist Jonin hiding in the trees at the bottom of the village when I was heading to do Spa or Docs. Sometimes you even get damaged, which in turn forces you to cast cloak or hide and regen which may put you in a vulnerable position in case someone randomly walks by and spots you. If sand has static Jonins I’d really suggest turning some into wandering NPCs just to further the excitement.
-
I think this would be doable since projectiles are thrown much smoother now due to the recent update. Of course it would take considerable skill to deflect a shuriken in time but I think it would in fact add more variety to the gameplay and give the player a more realistic feel when defending against a projectile. Would be interesting to see old players teaching new ones (especially in RP missions) how to deflect tools, which would in turn also add to the RP aspect of the game. All in all, good idea.

Thanks. Hope to get even better with time.

A nin-machinima I've been working on (with improved quality). Special thanks to @Chiba Miyuki for the cameo! Feel free to leave a comment. Enjoy!

+1 I remember spending my first ryo on the jacket too and getting hit with the much dreaded “you can’t wear this” message. Having bought the netted shirt beforehand I was really excited to go for that pre-CE Shikamaru style with the jacket but couldn’t equip it, so I sold it back to the shop for half the price. In retrospect I’m still kinda bummed out about it, since it is an item I would still buy and wear if it were available for male characters too.

The final 7 in the slot machine changes to a leaf
Nagao Hideki replied to topic's Raven in Community Help
Made a whole thread about this issue about a year ago with someone even providing video evidence on several different accounts, but it got deleted for some reason after I tagged Ueda. Thing is, while some accounts get the 7 on the final slot without any problems at all and are able to complete the mission in no-time, others are bound to live with the 7 immediately switching to a leaf whenever it hits the last slot. The latter are thus unable to complete the mission no matter how much time they spend at the gambling den in Tanzaku and are not eligible for further gambling missions due to this specific bug. I guess it's just something we have to put up with until the devs decide to do something about the issue, and hope that it gets resolved in due-time. -
Cut the guy some slack. He clearly put in work and tried to make it look interesting for people to read. He may not have a perfect command of English, but let’s not demoralise people who want to contribute to the community and start a discussion, even if they share info that can be found on the wiki. Older players may consider this common knowledge but it might still be useful for new players to find all drops / bosses listed in one thread. Good job @Firefly, keep up the good work!

Great work! Really hope this gets added as it would make the late-game (60+) experience more varied and create an additional pastime to hunts / spars.

Leaf Needs A Weapon Like Other Villages!
Nagao Hideki replied to question's FireDuck6969 in Suggestions (Old)
It’s kind of disappointing to see that some people still live in this twisted reality where Leaf is packed to the brim with people and the village leaders can whip out 15+ shinobi any time of the day to raid, counter-raid or hunt. It’s a ridiculous straw-man argument used whenever Leaf wants to have something done about either their passive, a new weapon or a bug that provides enemy nin an unfair advantage over the villagers. Truth is that, like @LionGod said, Leaf does not have that many players who are over 50 and are active on the daily, and our main numbers usually consist of new players who either: a) get bored of the game not meeting their expectations and leave b) go rogue c) reach lvl. 30 to finish the Land of Toads arc, then get bored of the dailies and the grind and quit Despite our best efforts to keep new players in the loop, only a minuscule amount of these people make it to lvl. 50 and join the raids/ counter-raids, yet people see 5 lowbies grinding wolves and 3 lvl 50+ afking in square as “numbers”. Believe it or not there are times when Leaf is a dead village too, and players have things to do irl, which shows whenever there’s like 3-4 active people on bi fighting a small group of pipe or fan users in the village for hours on end, because the others just can’t log despite seeing the ping due to either work, school or other irl obligations. Yet some people think of Leaf as this ever-so-powerful, dominating village which can conjure people out of thin air because all the other villages say so apparently and that somehow makes it true. In all honesty if we would want to ride the ‘...but Leaf has numbers’ wave, then we wouldn’t be asking for a new weapon, but rather petitioning staff to fix and re-add the Shadow clone jutsu (it is a Leaf Hidden Technique after all RP-wise) as a Leaf exclusive just so that we could in-fact conjure up people from thin air as many other villages seem to claim. This being said, while we could pay more attention to our lowbies, I think that ‘Leaf having numbers’ has become a pretty irrelevant argument by now and people who use it to be counter-productive in discussions would be better off not saying anything at all. But since I’m in no position to tell anyone here what to do, I’ll just say that these arguments don’t hold much substance and are only proof of your ignorance and bias.
