2nd Week of April Winner (Late Announcement) Congratulations @Rage All submissions after 31st April are considered for the next round!

This is all something we're looking closely at this year! Thanks for the suggestions.

I take all balance changes seriously. But not all balance suggestions are equal, and even those that sound good, don't fit the bigger picture when all factors important in balance are considered. Neither do many of them take into consideration things planned in the future (not anyone's fault, I don't often like to talk about what's in the pipeline for a bunch of reasons) All I can ask for is people's trust and understanding that even though PvP content is not a large focus this year, things are on track. There's been a plan from the very beginning, and people may joke about my vision. But watch any PvP video from 2013, one from 2015, and every year after and you'll see how things have formed up into what it is now. There have been changes on the way, like bubble mastery was never planned until 2018-ish, but I'm always considering a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to making balance changes. Of course it'll be easier for me to tweak numbers than say no to them.

It's sad but I doubt any soundtrack can stay fresh after years. I tend to play the game with volume down too a lot, just because I'm working or multi-tasking, watching videos etc. Which is why when the track came on it was nostalgic xD Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Just making a post here because YouTube recommended me our own Nin Online soundtrack. I've been reminded recently of the amount of money spent to create original music in the early development days, when the game was burning through my savings and freelance earnings. When I had to survive on bread and milk and instant noodles for months on end because I had nothing left for myself and I don't come from a wealthy family. Every cent donated throughout the development period was also given to freelancers and others to draw art, make music, code and to draw promotional artwork that we still use till today. In the last week I streamed playing games made by others that had stolen Nin Online's original Art and UI. It really got me thinking, why go through all the work of actually being the one to create things when others just out right steal what you've invested your time and money into. I don't really talk about the struggles of development in 2013 leading up till beta because I usually can reason with myself that those sacrifices were necessary. But when people show me otherwise, that they can make money off my work without repercussion, I start to doubt myself and regret putting myself through so much hardship. But then I was serenaded by Sand Canyons by @Afilion The hopeful tune really gave me the lift out of the dumps that I needed. The reason why I couldn't copy someone else's work in 2013, as an 18 year old kid was because there was nobody to copy. There was no game like Nin Online yet. The community here is great, I can tell everyone appreciates the efforts put in by everyone who has played a part in making Nin Online. When I asked on Discord for people to help bring attention to the fact a game a youtuber had made a video on had stolen art from us, everyone came together to attempt to help. It might or might not pay off and Nin Online might get the attention that game garnered off our team's work. But at the end of the day, I'm just glad we have a supportive community of players who just want to play a good nar Ninja game. Anyway, this is not really a dev log, more like a rant. There's so much happening and coming for Nin Online that I'm honestly so excited. Hope everyone's been doing well in this pandemic!

Dear Ninjas, We're proud to officially announce Nin Online working fully on Mac OS! If you are a Mac user You can download and play by visiting our download page now. Support While limited for support, as we're not that familiar with debugging the client specifically for Macs. We'll try our best to continue to support Mac OS into the future. This has been made possible by our new (Inochi) client and the hard work of @Delp who provided the installation and wrapper for Mac. Regards, Ueda

Rumors about Mastery reset for masteried that doesnt have advance/kekkei genkai
Ueda replied to topic's Magnus in Discussion
The problem with going with "some people will get a reset" is that people will start doubling down on things they don't actually want to play, because it's meta now, because they think they'll get to choose again later. My official statement is: There won't be a time where you play Nin in a specific way and then suddenly your combination of character building is suddenly not viable and we don't do anything to help you. So play as you want. -

Nin Online Inochi is the new C# client that we've been working on for a long time! A development log with more information should be coming soon. Since it was announced, we've also added 32-bit support. Dynamically resizable game resolutions and more!
-
Main post updated with new details! The client now supports 32-bit Windows!
-
A new installer has been released, and old installs need to be reinstalled with this new download! Sorry for the trouble. Try re-installing the new client. And make sure to run with right click -> run as administrator, if it continues to happen.

Renamed Arms Bandages to Double Arm Bandages Since that's what everyone called it anyway. It was a little confusing since the only difference in it's name from Arm Bandages was one additional "s". Made Dark Clearing map less dark. Adjusted map overlays for better compatibility for Nin Online Inochi.
-
Added two mirrors
-
You probably downloaded the client while I was uploading an updated installer, try re-downloading!

I'm familiar with seizure risks. However, I'm pretty sure one solid white flash is considered safe. There are no consecutive flashes. You're not supposed to be spamming your way through that scene, there is dialogue. That's a fair point. Will consider that. I'll consider. Not every fight should take place in open spaces. We design each mastery with different terrain, some are better when the enemies can't run etc. so in the same way the game's world and story fights are going to play to different advantages. I don't have one soz

That's great to hear!

Dear Ninja, EDIT: Since this was posted, we've updated the installation with a new patcher. If you installed Nin Online Inochi before 13th April, please re-download it and install it again to receive future updates! EDIT2: Since this was posted, we've added compatibility for 32-Bit Windows Systems! We're happy to announce we're finally opening up testing of a "secret" project that we've been working on for awhile now. For the past few months, we've been working on rewriting our Nin Online client in C#, which will mean the end of the era of Nin Online running on an outdated engine. We're dubbing this update... Nin Online Inochi Which is not a new game title, but just a temporary alias to differentiate between the old Visual Basic game client (and era of visual basic server) and the game moving forward with a modern codebase and renderer. Eventually when we depreciate the old client, we can throw away this distinction. But for the time being, when reporting bugs for example, please do include which version of Nin Online you are currently playing! The significance of the word Inochi means life and I like that with the new client we can finally address key quality of life improvements, as we're in the middle of rewriting the entire user interface system. We'll also eventually be adding some more ninja lifestyle features like owning houses and organization houses, which would not have been easy with the old client. Although right now, for the most part, Nin Online Inochi is meant to be a 1:1 recreation of the old client, it still comes with numerous improvements from minor bug fixes to major features, here's some changes... Zoom & Target Following Camera Options In-game Settings (Including Keybinds) Other cool changes so far Important notes It is still currently buggy, but the amount of improvements that this new update brings is worth letting new players try using it to see if they are able to withstand the bugs in order to enjoy all the benefits it provides. This includes much better performance and even possibly consistent latency/ping due to better handling of incoming network packets. We will continue to support the old client for the next few months, but once the new client is ready to have complete features added to it, we will have to discontinue it in order to progress further. Hair colors are significantly altered in Nin Online Inochi. This is temporary. The reason it's appearance is different is that we're using a new method of coloring the hairstyles that is much more performant and allows us to add many more hairstyles. We intend to make it so you're able to choose ANY hair color on the RGB spectrum in the future.

What rain?

"the way we color the hairs in the new client looks different because it's way more optimized" "It's a trade off, but in the future when we add more color options it'll be possible to get it again" "basically once we retire the old client we can revamp hair colors 100%" "and you can pick from any color in the spectrum" "What we did now is assign a RGB value for each of the 27 colors before as a "legacy" color" "So in the future when we don't have to deal with 27 anymore, it'll become any color between that" -Myself from discord
