https://www.ninonline.org/forum/forums/index/topic/29158-being-a-game-master-is-hard/ I made this post a year ago in which I asked @Emiya and @Erox about how a GM feels like I never thought I will become a GM myself so Now after I have some experience I want to make a post about my experience. My experience as a Game Master I only joined the nin online team recently so I didn't fully explore what a game master being felt like so my opinion or things I say in this post might change in the future. Game master being a job One of the first things I noticed when I became GM is that everything is well organized and working as a Nin online staff feels cool many players think that being a staff is fun and yes it is fun but you get a lot of responsibility too. Not able to play like a normal player I missed being a player and playing like normal with my friends but after I been gm for two weeks or so I kinda understand why are gm not allowed to play as normal play and I agree that gm shouldn't be able to play like normal players for several reasons. New staff team When I first saw the new team I didn't expect any of the players who became staff to apply for GM and didn't even know some of them but they all been very helpful to me and supportive and teaching me several new things. This is what I think about them @Delp - I knew Delp senpai from before when he helped me with some of my code when I was learning python for the first time and several other time even before becoming a staff so Delp senpai was the easiest to get along with and they are always helping me in things and teaching me new stuff. @Ryujin- Ryujin senpai is like one of the players that I always played with but we never or I just rarely talked with so when we both became staff I started to talk a lot more to them and it became so fun talking to them it's like everything they say is correct and they are never wrong somehow also whenever I am feeling down or sad they always show up and try to help me. @Vaxure- I never saw Vaxure senpai before but we end up learning commands from Erox senpai together so it was a nice way to meet and talk to them. little did I knew they are like the most helpful and reliable people around whenever I need help I always go to them because they always have a solution. @Leighray- I didn't talk to them for somedays when I joined but when I did finally talked to them I understood that they are one of the most fun people in this group and I like talking to them so much but they are usually busy and because of our timezone but every time I am with them it's really fun. About the gm lead Erox I always thought that Ero senpai who gave the community so much and made music that I can hear 24/7 is so cool but I thought maybe after I become staff they will get more strict toward me so I can learn how to be a good gm but that wasn't the case at all after talking to them I felt like Wow They are the coolest and most chill person around being with the most fun and you feel a sense of security while you are with them. I sometimes get annoying toward Ero senpai and ask for stuff all the time like I even asked about can I make this post to them for some reason. Player behavior toward me I can notice that many players treat me very differently than before after I became a staff member and give me more respect. Also whenever I show up in any village I get a lot of attention and everyone starts attacking me. For the most part, Everyone has been nice to me other than one certain player but I think they will understand after a while why I did what I did and they will let it go. Do I want to become a player again or leave the nin online staff? Sometimes being a GM can be boring and seeing all your friends having fun while you just stand can be sad sometimes and because of that I do think of going back as a player but at the same time the new staff team is so fun and I enjoy being with them so much that I think I should stay gm for a long time and try to give everyone a nice experience. Toxic response and backlash This is a common thing that comes with being a gm and happens a lot whether if you ban someone, disqualify someone, give a rare prize and not announcing event all of this give you toxic reply from players but I kinda understand where they are coming from and respects it so I can become better at this but sometimes they go a little overboard and act toxic toward me with every way possible I wish players would first talk to me so maybe if I am wrong I can get it and not repeat it. A new perspective of the game I thought I knew a lot about the game but after I became GM that assumption was broken and I learned so many things about nin and the reason why some things are the way they are that I never knew before. Things I think I should improve on -Getting more confidence. -Not asking about everything. -Not be afraid of a player who is trying to bully me. -Try to get more diversity in the events I do and make a lot more new ones.8 points

- Suggestion to improve the global commerce of nin online. Well, as we all know, the online Nin trading system only focuses on farming and publishing your items within the game through chat and / or discord to reach a few people from other villages, but how about making it more optimal? as it matches. I propose to create a global trade npc with contact with all the villages that each player has accessibility to and publish their items with the NPC and everyone from different villages can see what you sell by having a complete tab of all the players selling their items to different prices and you have to choose a price to your liking when selling the item the system will charge you a tax after 1k onwards of 2% if you have gold 1% when your item is sold it will charge you the tax but as long as you want to remove the item from the store you will be refunded the money of the tax collected. - What will happen to the item and the money when it is purchased? Answer = The item will be transferred to the player who bought the item and the money has two options which are: 1. The money will be transferred directly to the player and a message will appear in the chat when you log to your account then it will say for example: "Your bonesword has been sold for+300000 ryo" and this ryo you can go to claim it at the merchant npc. 2. The above but instead of going to claim the Ryo with the npc that the Ryo appears directly in your inventory. - How does the tax system work and what would happen to the items when you put them in the npc store? That the NPC charge you a small tax that goes to 2%, for example, you go to the NPC and put your item in the store, the merchant will put a 2% fee, for example, you put your item at 300,000 ryos, they will charge you a 2% tax. Therefore, they will take away 6000 ryos in case the item is sold, which would be if they are 300,000, it would be 294,000 the final money. 1. Advantages if you're gold: The NPC will charge you only 1% tax The items when you deliver them to the NPC this will save it as a kind of bank but it is not a bank because after a certain time if the item is not purchased the merchant will return it to you and it will appear in your inventory again. 2. Advantages. I would encourage rp at the system level as this would help to make trade alliances as if it were a merchants guild that does not support any single village that concentrates on doing its business work for its own enrichment. 3. Eliminate 90% or 95% of the NinGeneral trade channel 4. That people can set the price they want and that others buy it under their own responsibility, thus bringing an economy of supply and demand. - Functional suggestion: To further strengthen the RP in the villages, the kage have the option of removing or not the npc from their village to cut commercial alliances: in the case that the villages do not want businesses in their village, the npc will have its predetermined place '' tanzaku ' 'You can also go to enemy villages that if they have said npc and conduct your business. - Here are some fan art of how the trading system with interface and npc would be implemented in the game. (By : LP20 the sexiest) - NPC in tanzaku (area where the npc will always be) - What the trading system would look like in the game: - A closer look at the trading system: - What would the npc look like in the villages: Leaf Village: Mist Village: Sand Village: Suggestion idea: @Inara Artwork art: @Lp20 Concept ideas: @Donatello Johnson@Kuhou@Kodigo@Butterfly@Krait@Ryutekzu@Prince Cabo (Please support this suggestion.)6 points

First of all, best suggestion post I've seen in a long time, maybe ever. First one that really made me smile in a long time at least. We're in the midst of some major reworks as you can tell, this is becoming more possible by the day. I've pinned it as an example of what suggestions can be!3 points

My only request that people realize not every criticism to a GM is toxicity. A lot of players have valid frustrations against GMs, and the GM will just brush it off like "this specific player hates me, so I can't do anything about that" when the GM can actually put forth the effort to talk to the person to give closure, and they can apologize on their part. When a GM does make a mistake, I've only ever seen defense mechanisms pull through, like "I am being targeted as a GM so I'll just not respond", or they'll make some sort of a public statement where they give their reasons as to why they did it as if that is enough justification; not frequently do I see a genuine apology. They just kinda huddle with the other GMs and protect each other like a group.2 points

I'm a bit confused. This idea is great, and something we've all wanted for a very long time... and that's the confusing part. This post has been suggested before, when people have many times said that we need a 'Trade Center' type of place (similar to runescape's Grand Exchange). But Rory would always say no to the idea because it eliminates player interaction. And player interaction was one of the 2 most important things from Rory's "Nin's Core Philosophies" video. The idea is that this suggestion makes things more 'convenient', and that was wrong as per the Core Philosophies video, and wrong as per the video "Why MMORPGs are dying" which was also enforced by Rory. It was said that MMORPGs die out when you keep adding conveniences like this. By having this trade center NPC, you eliminate the idea of players actually roaming the world to talk to others and try to sell and buy items. In addition, you also remove the social interaction and social skills of bargaining because you can't bargain here; the NPC either sells you if you have the ryo, or it doesn't. Don't get me wrong. I love this idea and want it in the game, but it's been a suggestion for years, so I'm surprised why now it's an obvious yes.2 points

This was suggested easily a half a dozen times (Once by me as well) and it was either ignored or a response similar to "We want you to travel the world so no." Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see it's finally being done, just kind of a bummer that this is getting so much praise when the same exact thing has been suggested so many times over the last 5 years with little or no recognition from staff.2 points

We really need this, the Hispanic community put a lot of support in this suggestion, we need this to be a development priority and that it be put on nin online in the next few months or this year at the most, this is something that nin online needs as priority number 1 .2 points

If a lot of things cleared your own frustrations about the game do you not think the staff being more transparent with the playerbase going further would improve general reception for decisions and updates?1 point

The tax money does not benefit the villages or the people, it just collects the tax and is removed from the game. the idea of the tax is to control inflation and the amount of ryo that moves in the market and the prices of items to help the system and sustain it1 point

Really well done when it comes to concept images! I would like to see see something that ingame. Great work1 point

It's a great suggestion something that has been troubling not only myself but also the whole player base, not being able to sell your items just because you and your buyer can't be on at the same time? It always frustrated me and I'm sure that I'm not the only one with these feelings. I think the way this suggestion was made is what makes it stand out as compared to the one's made before even with the same content, it gives you a solidified structure of "what if" and expands on it. So do not be sad that "why yours wasn't give attention to" instead support this as much as you can because that's what makes a good community. +11 point

I have been playing Nin on and off and my struggle with it has always been how difficult it is to level at a steady pace. I enjoy the early game of nin, but it gets so tedious/repetitive at later stages and this is why I can't get my friends to stick around with it (They usually leave around lvl 20-30) It's such a great game, it's really well done and all, but maybe not now, but when more content comes out would be nice if the EXP of missions/mobs would go up in a healthy way. I know I will be bashed by most of the community that has stayed around for so long. I'm just trying to think of the big picture, it would attract more players if it wasn't so dificult to level up. x1 point
