  1. Hey Ninjas, Public Preview Day? I haven't posted previews that even non-registered users could see for a long time. In the past, there would be one of these for every development log.. but I started to just do development logs as I got more comfortable just showing my work to those already registered. So this public preview is for all the lurkers who haven't seen any update in a long time. No the game is not dead, all the progress is documented in the Development Log section, which you need to register to see! You can view our previous public previews here for nostalgia! It really has been a long time hasn't it? Previews! Sharingan aka. Heaven's Eyes I'm sorry to tease. Clans are still a long way from being released, so I just did this one for fun. Binding Pillars Technique You can probably guess how this works. It's a lightning technique that summons four pillars that paralyzes everything within it's boundaries. Kazekage Building I'm back to working on giant buildings again like 2 years ago for the Leaf Village. This took two days to do, so future Kazekage-sama better thank me to death. Thank you for all your continued support. If you aren't already registered, do take your time to, as we will be going into the final Open Alpha stage in a few weeks. Regards, Rory

  2. Back when Gold became a thing it was the first donation I ever made to a project like this. I didn't think it would go anyone where but I took the chance because I really wanted to believe. As the joke goes, I've never played the game. I've missed every alpha and preview due to my circumstance just not lining up luckily, despite being invited to each. Even then, I'm nothing but excited, proud, and happy for this. I can't wait to finally hit the sandy dunes of Suna

  3. Dear Ninjas, This must be the 100th time I've started a topic with "Dear Ninjas". Each time I do that, I feel a sense of achievement, because I'm either presenting something that the team has worked on, or announcing something to the followers of this project. Over 10 years ago, I was doing exactly what you guys are doing today, checking in on a Naruto fan MMO. I had watched 30+ episodes of Naruto and thought to myself "this concept is WAY too amazing to not have an MMORPG", so I googled it and found a bunch of fan games at the time - NarutoRealm and NarutoQuest mainly. I followed these two projects religiously, checking on the forums to see if there were any updates every few days. I was always looking forward to a release date, so you can imagine my disappointment and heart break to see both these projects slowly fade into death. This was when I decided to make Nin Online, and would spend years practicing art and game development to the point where I could create the game I so desperately wanted. Hence, you could say that Nin Online is not just another Naruto fan game. Nin Online is NarutoRealm, Nin Online is NarutoQuest, Nin Online is Last Ninja Online, Nin Online is Hidden Villages Online, Nin Online is NarutoRivals. Nin Online is the game that every person in the last 10 years has attempted to make, but had given up before even reaching a test stage. I have followed every single one of these projects. This game's purpose is to carry on the hours of work and heart put into all these projects, but this time we will see it happen. In 2013, I finally decided to make this dream game of my happen, and so I started working on it alone for a month before finally getting Whack on the team and announcing the game to the world. I was so surprised that the game gained an instant following. Flash forward to today, I still have my 'ninjas' coming in here everyday, giving me ideas, suggestions, advice, critique and even their money to make this game. It has been 2 years of development, and while we are only on the verge of a beta.. I am proud that Nin Online has gotten this far. Further than any other attempt at a Naruto fan game of this scale by years of work and I couldn't have gotten here without the support of all of my Ninjas, Gold Ninjas, Silver Ninjas and especially not without my trustworthy team of developers. It doesn't cross my mind on a day-to-day basis, but we have something really magical going on here. It's a collective dream happening. I am glad to be the one follower of this project 10 years ago, to finally make it happen. It doesn't stop here! Give my team your support as we push for a beta announcement date! Thank you for these 2 years, Ninjas. Thank you for making Nin Online what it is today! Regards, Rory

  4. I like this! Perhaps an entire array of quests that can only be obtained randomly. Instead of picking them up from a quest giver, you could see a lost dog that gives you a quest to return him, or an NPC getting jumped that gives you a quest to save him, or like Kazama said an NPC committing a crime. These would be cool because you can't go get them directly, you'd have to explore and get lucky.

  5. An event that might make the cities and areas seem more realistic is random crimes, a ninja might steal a personal item from a civilian and you would have the option to chase him down and arrest him for a reward or to just ignore him.

  9. Gambling. Kunai darts. Rooftop races. Rare NPC Spawns - Exclusive vendors, monsters with drops, etc. Shop promotions - Limited time discounts, price drops, etc. Weekly dungeons with extremely difficult modifiers. Environmental disasters - Floods / Sandstorms destroying parts of the village exterior w/ quests to help repairs. Ruins with tomb-raider style puzzles. NPC's attempting to raid villages periodically. Minigames for crafting/professions, possibly even Genjutsu escapes if that becomes a thing. Some of these are events, some are features. I had more before my original post was rolled back.

  10. What about like week long events? Genin vs Jounin: based off the OVA Basically Genin drop Blue Crystals, which are worth 1 point and Chunnin+ drop Red Crystals, which are worth 3. The objective is to collect as many Crystals as you can by the end date to recieve rewards, which have a 1st-3rd place ranking. And then maybe a consolation prize for the top 50? To avoid abuse by spam killing newbs, you can have it so you can only drop a Crystal if you currently hold any. -------------------------- Dungeons: In this event a Dungeon will open up for an hour, in this hour you will be able to kill a mob(mob depends on which dungeon is opened) and collect summoning pieces, collect a certain amount and you will be able to summon them as a pet. (thought about this and then saw the Toad Summon one. Excited about that!!! but wanted to post this anyway) Great Ninja War: All players team up against one common enemy. This NPC(Masked Man?) will have insane stats and will take a combined effort to kill him. While he doesn't regenerate Stamina over time, he does gain 10% of the max stamina of those he kills. Shogi: Kill the King: An NPC will be summoned in each village which will not do anything. The purpose for the village is to Protect their King while also trying to kill the other villages King. This will pit Leaf vs Suna for a while since we will only have those two, but once other villages are added, it will be an all out war. Before the event starts, using your village pool, your Kage can higher mercenary ninja to help out your village to ensure victory.

  11. Survival, players are sent to a secluded map (having multiple maps could make reruns more fun) and they survive waves of shinobi mobs, until they either all die or people complete the final wave. Naturally the longer you survive the better your reward. History related events wouldn't be too bad either, like something where you take part in the massacre of the Uchiha, the onslaught of the Pain paths or face off against the Kage at the summit. It's an alternative from the Bijuu stuff. BLN had these challenge NPCs that you'd go to in order to play minigames. Can't exactly remember everything from the top of my head but the Sado challenge for example was this Space Invaders-like minigame where you'd just kill as many hollows as you can in order to get the best possible rewards. I'm sure tree climbing and jumping games featured in the first Ultimate Ninja Storm, just to give you ideas.

  12. Capture the Bell/Flag/Scroll: Village Vs. Village(Kages select 5 ninjas to participate as a squad.(1-Squad Leader, 2-3- Assault Unit, 4-5- Defense Unit) Terrain is random, points to win are 3 or 5)/ World 1v1 Tournaments: Village Vs. Village(Kages select a certain number of ninjas & the draw is random. With enough wins under some players belts, they may earn titles or ranks.) 2v2 Tournaments: Village Vs. Village(Kages select 4 ninjas & pairs them off. The draw is random& with enough wins under a certain pair's belt may earn them titles of legend & secret missions or not) King Of The Hill: Village Vs. Village/ World Small Country Invasions: Village(Basically, name (1-3) different surrounding countries surrounding each village. Have each village having a a certain number of troops in different tiers & renowned war heroes as their leaders. Notice is sent to the Kage & he/she must open registration for the war or the village will take loss in economy. Titles of legend and prizes will be given for victory.)

  14. Whack's Development Log #5 More Jutsus & PvP Hello everyone, here's an update on what I've been working on recently. Most importantly is Jutsus. In the last dev log, I spoke about Hiding & Concealment Jutsus. Hiding jutsus will make your player invisible to other players, while concealment jutsus will hide your identity. This means that they can see you, but they won't know who you are, unless they remember what you looked like. Concealment jutsus will last much much longer than hiding jutsus will. The ability to see a player using a hiding jutsu will be determined based on their chakra stat, and the hidden players intellect. Here are the newest Jutsus. Cloning Kawarimi Elemental-based weapon speed/damage bonus Stun Animated projectiles These jutsus require lots of testing, which has been done by Rory and I. In the next alpha, these spells will be used by players so that we can test for bugs and other errors. We have tested these in PvP, and on players. Cloning Jutsu Cloning Jutsus are used to distract and confuse other players. These jutsus do not last very long, and are buff (time) based. When used, a number of clones based on your jutsu's ability will appear around your player, which looks exactly like you in every way, shape, and form. Kawarimi Jutsu Kawarimi Jutsu, when used, will make you appear behind your attacker when they attack you next. If they shoot you with an arrow or fireball from 10 tiles away, you will suddenly appear behind them to fight back by surprise. Elemental based bonuses These jutsus will charge your weapon with electricity, fire, or other elements to increase the damage you will do to opponents. Stun Jutsu This type of jutsu will stun your player for a small amount of time, allowing you to get the upper hand and gain some time to cast a more powerful jutsu, or attack them without them attacking back. Animated Projectiles Thanks to Keezus, we now have animated projectiles for things such as fireballs, including starting up animations, as well as fading away animations and a collision animation. Animated projectiles are also now pixel based, which makes gameplay look much smoother. And here is a video of the Jutsus in action (remember, this was to test for bugs!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFC7BoJMJrU Also, kickback is now pixel based, which will make gameplay smoother as well. I am also working on kickback for PvP. I have also been working on many server side improvements and fixes. Anyways, I have to go now. So thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed the video! Regards, Whack
