Dear Ninjas, I've personally been enjoying my time in Early Access, communicating with everyone again for the first time in awhile. We've made good progress ironing out bugs in the past few days, but we're still a little bit away from opening alpha to all Gold/Silver ninjas and then to the rest of the community. Me and some of the early access testers put together a short trailer to hype everyone for the upcoming releases! https://youtu.be/X8Ms8KYWVhI I'd like to thank all the actors, as well as @Afilion aka. Justin West for the music. @ @ @ @Zepulous @ @Atrox @ They had a hard time with all the costume changes I made them do, and not forgetting Gender Change and Racial Equality Scorpion (inside joke). Thank you for the continued support, please do like and share the video if you enjoyed it. Also, remember subscribe to our YouTube channel as we will be posting video updates there soon. I also hope to record more footage of the game once we release to everyone so we can take more populated shots. So stay tuned for that! Regards, Rory15 points

So I was talking to Seth about what Nin Online's RP and PvP mixed game design philosophy is all about, and I think I explained it better than ever before, so I'm quoting myself here. RP - Roleplaying PvP - Player vs Player (normally used to describe a game with combat features)7 points

Hell yeah been waiting for this! That was awesome and had a blast acting! Being Akatsuki was a highlight of my life3 points

All throughout my career on BYOND, on the several games I've owned and adminned for, I've held the exact same views! The thing about BYOND however is, there are too many "RP purists" to really support the RPvP mechanic to wild success. Back when I owned BLH, I had 120 players on at any given time, but that was 2010. I functioned extremely well with a solid RPvP format. Then the game was abruptly stolen from me by my co-owner, my programmer, and the former owner. They then turned it into an RP purist's paradise. Don't get me wrong, I -love- writing combat RP. But PvP was the sole way to handle disputes that an admin could not. After they unceremoniously yanked me out of the chain of command, their playerbase dropped to 30 people. Why? Because they eliminated what made the game great. They even took credit for the effort that I'd put into the game, thereafter. But this, Rory. I can totally get behind this. Just have to say, you're awesome.2 points

Cool! Really glad to see that RP is still planned to be a major component within the game.2 points

Hi Ninjas, It's been a very long time since my last development log. One reason being that I held back making any reveals until the previous testing phase came out. During that test, a whole bunch of content was revealed such as the complete basic kits for each Elemental Mastery. Another reason has been my long absence, this has been due to a lot of unpredictable events that has happened to me up until now. But I'm back, and I'll soon be starting to do live streams of my artwork in development again, so stay tuned! Forest of Death Arena Exterior Along with this building, an entire forest of death map has been completed, the size of the map being even larger than Leaf Village itself. This is going to be the most exciting part of the Chunnin Exams in my opinion. Players will be scattered to random points in the map with their team with one of the two Heaven Scrolls or Earth Scrolls, they will then go about battling other teams in order to get the other scroll to enter the Forest of Death Arena. Taijutsus These Taijutsus are currently still work in progress. Goggles & Eye Scope NPCs around Leaf Village Fernando and I spent some time to populate Leaf Village with lively characters which each serve a different purpose. Walking around Leaf Village won't be as barren as it used to! These are just a few of them. Look forward to more from me soon! Thanks everyone for being patient with the project. Regards, Rory1 point

Hi Ninjas, Back again for another art development log. I have interesting news.. the focus of the art development has been shifted from Jutsus to the second village, the Hidden Village of Sand! I already teased you all a few days back with the new forum banner, but here's a proper development log of the art working in-game. Even more good news, my conscription in the military will be ending in a little over 4 months, that will mean a lot more time to work on Nin Online and more time to dedicate to the community, like I did in the past. Animated grass Before going into the Sand village, I decided to make the greenery in the game a little more lively. Look closely! Sand Flak Jacket & Headband These are the basic gear seen worn by most ninjas in the sand village. I'll be adding more customized looks for these in the near future. For example, a variation of the headband which has the cloth covering one eye. The flak jacket looks a little bit different on the female. It's more light weight and has chest space. The Southern Gates of the Sand Village Watch as my Sand Ninja enters the "gates" of Sand. World Map I'm looking to hear your opinions on the current design for the world map I'm working on. If it's not pleasing for you guys, I'll consider outsourcing drawing a more detailed map to an illustrator. I hope you guys like this. Feel free to give your feedback and harsh criticism. Also, once again, if there are any web developers interested in coding our new homepage, please PM me! Regards, Rory1 point

Lets be a bit more realistic for a few seconds... When you're playing in game have you ever equipped an item that removes another item in a completely different area of your characters body? Kind of like how a headband (forehead) won't stack with goggles(face) because they're both classified under the type of MASK? Well without breaking the game too much I think I can suggest a safe alternative to what I call gear type overwriting. First, foremost and about as simple as it's going to get is that we need cosmetic equipment slots which allow us to stack multiple items of the same type. The one in the regular slot giving their regular stat bonus while the piece of equipment in the cosmetic slot doesn't yield ANY of it's stat bonuses. That's really all there is to it... EXAMPLES... Goggles and the Forehead Protector Shino Coat and the Flak Vest Forehead Protector and the Anbu Mask. I'm sure some of you can come up with your own combinations too... ANYWAYS.... THIS IS *pause* SPAR-.... NIN ONLINE1 point

This concept can be very well used for ninonline. many players seek this kind of game, I always say that the more immersive better. Nowadays great games have the freedom of the player and try to make these players feel satisfied with their achievements in games. PVP is essential for this project but something like RPvP is even better. In particular, ninonline is overcoming my expectations, I am experienced in saying how much already witnessed in game development, I know it takes time, but even if it takes, but remember that the quality of server and client, design, gameplay is excellent and it is rare to see it. I repeat, it is a pleasure to help with whatever, even with ideas and opinions. You guys, built a good community.1 point

If I get it right it is, but you will have to unequip that accessory before getting out your normal item.1 point

Yea I agree, That was very clear, straight forward, and well said. Just how much longer until we actually get to see this played out in game. I mean yesterday Bell and I role played as student and sensei. I was the student and he helped me out with pvp by killing me every single time, but it was so fun, I had a blast because I got better with my fire style. Seeing this stuff performed in game is going to be amazing. Lets just hope this year is the year of a release, because in 2 years, I won't be around anymore due to my career and I'd hate to never have gotten the chance to experience the first release day1 point

We're going to have where you equip a cosmetic item and it goes over the normal item. Sort of like, it stacks over the item slot, and you have to unequip it first before unequipping your normal item. It won't cost anything to do and is reusable.1 point

We're transitioning to a new Early Access model, I know Early Access has ruined the games industry or well made it worse, but the main issue is team motivation - it is hard to make a game with no drive. Having people play a game is more drive than getting paid in my opinion, working for hours with no reward is very stressful, so when people give negative feedback, it makes the job even harder. Basically, what we plan to do is allow people in the Early Access group to play the game as it is developed, once we finish the next Development Log, it will be open to them, and eventually open to all the donators/veterans. Once we know the game is ready for everyone, we will open it for good and continue to develop as we planned to do.1 point
