  1. Dear Ninjas, It's my pleasure to announce that we'll be releasing the game this Sunday (15 Sep - time in the post below this one) for all Gold (& Silver) Ninja. This will be the first phase of the 2nd Early Alpha Test. The second phase will of course come a few days after that and be open for everyone else! About Forum/Game Accounts Take note that now that the Authentication server is complete, the server will be accessed with your forum login name. Once in the game, the name that will display as your Ninja's name will be that of your forum display name. In preparation for the release, all members have been given a free name change! The server will only be accessible to accounts which have donated for the Gold Ninja Badge. Why get Gold Ninja early? Don't miss out on the chance to get into the game world early (though you will not have much of an upper hand besides experiencing the game & it's new content earlier), get your Gold Ninja badge by visiting the Nin Online store. A reminder is that the Early Gold Ninja Reward is still up for grabs until this Sunday where the extended offer will finally close for good. From then, the Gold Ninja Forehead protector will never be available again! Offer is now over! When will normal players get to test? We're hoping to clear a large amount of bugs before releasing it to public, but at the same time we want to test for more bugs and things we can improve on with a smaller testing group - hence we're calling for our benefactors to do us the favor. The public test could be anytime from 4 days to a week later! How will I get into the game? You will be provided instructions through a forum PM when the Alpha Test is about to commence. Regards, Rory

  4. Yeah, it's called having a game engine programmed by someone who isn't an idiot. Big titles like Maple Story can be easily broken because their developers were on a budget with a deadline. They have limited time and money to do a job some of them won't even have the training to do. I developed the client to be a dumb terminal. You send commands to the server and the server verifies everything and handles all data manipulation before sending off updated information to everyone else. The "anti-cheat" system you refer to is only required in games which use things like lag compensation and loosely linked server/client relationships. VAC is a good example. It'll be as solid as titles like Runescape. You can use a memory editor to modify stuff in the client, but it's just a remote view for a centralised, inaccessible controller. Having your health set to 10,000 on the client means nothing if the server knows you only have 150.

  6. I believe Chickenlegs at the time. It's been awhile and I've been through so many aliases it's ridiculous. I wasn't anyone important though, lol. I know when I hadn't yet officially joined the forums, I was frequently browsing it as a guest. The last post I read from you was something about this being a creative outlet for you and how you were doing on some test... back when the forum was purple... I followed it long before that aswell, lol.

  8. Glad to see you back what was your username back then? I'm glad you had confidence in me. The saddest email I had to send out was the cancellation of the project. But at the end I promised I would bring it back one day. Nin Online is the game I've always wanted to make, and always will.

  10. Dear Ninja, I'd just like to reveal to your the prologue of Nin Online. It will give you a rough idea of what to expect for the in-game storyline and roleplay backstory. Brace yourselves! Prologue Two hundred years have passed since the 4th Shinobi World War, during which the world was saved from a threat to its existence. It is becoming harder for new leaders to honor the alliances made by their predecessors; the bonds formed during the war are becoming unstable and the peace between villages is beginning to grow questionable. Meanwhile, a copycat group who operate under the same name as the Akatsuki has come to light. Initially not viewed as a threat, the organization was allowed to establish itself before anyone could take notice of them. Their objectives are mysterious and their new leader is unknown. Mankind had made progress in changing age old-traditions of sealing the tailed beasts within power ninja. For years they have roamed the world freely and peacefully, but now have started to behave aggressively. The villages fear the beasts may be under someone's control, and are strengthening their defenses to protect their villages from the threat of destruction and the possibility of another war erupting in their time. Born into a generation which has known only peace and has never witnessed war, you start your journey as an academy student about to venture into the world of ninja. Responsibilities come with every decision you make. Will you become a force for peace and exact your justice, or will you descend into darkness and bring this world to an end? Hope you enjoy the quick read, more details on the history and what has happened between the end of the 4th Shinobi World War and the events of Nin Online will be revealed as we get closer to the beta! Regards, Rory

  13. I love this freaking prologue, despite how vague it is.. It leaves so much to be filled in by the players and the rest of the community for those of you who don't consider yourself a player. This game surely is going to interesting!
