  1. Dear Ninja, It's been awhile since the last development log. I thought I'd share some sweet news about the development along with some pretty screenshots to please your eyes for the time being. We've been taking trips to visit Konoha between our long hours working on the game, and I can only describe the place with this word - "Home". Each time I log in and visit the pier I feel like I could just chill with my friends there for hours and talk about anything! I can't help but feel proud that I built this village myself with this as the objective. I wanted to create a home for all the leaf ninjas to feel like they belonged somewhere. I was largely influenced by Ragnarok Online in my teenage years to know the importance of creating a grand hub where players could enjoy just hanging out with their friends in. Ignore the naked, bald men selling food in the night market. This is a picture of our visit to the Night Market today. It was rather cloudy as you can see! Update on Authentication Server Abhi has gotten the Authentication server done and almost bug free. What this means is that as I type this, I'm playing Nin Online with my forum account! It won't be long before we release a stable client for everyone to play. Update on other problems Unfortunately, the 1024x768 resolution is still not optional at this point in time. We're going to work to fix this as soon as possible. It's a problem which mainly affects those who use 1366x768 monitors (mostly laptops), and it's a problem we want to fix. It is quite a bit of work required though. Update on content Abhi is likely going to revamp much of the mission system which is in place at the moment. It's isn't adequate if we want to build the game around interesting missions for everyone! The Academy Student phase of the Leaf Village up until the end of the Genin Test and graduating is complete! The Konoha outskirts are much much more vast than they were before now. Hope these screenshots can satisfy your thirstiness for Nin Online for the time being while we work hard to push for a release as soon as possible. All I can say is Gold Ninjas should stay tuned for a closed test really soon! Regards, Rory

  3. I got in to programming and game development so I could share the stories that I created. Before I pursued a career in software design I actually had a very strong background in English and creative writing in general. I'll personally be going over every line of content added by the new developers. As the development tools are simple input/output I'll probably be getting them to write any dialogue in a program like Microsoft Word set with a International (British) dictionary. We take content very seriously, and I've got an eye for detail which borders on obsessive. Just ask Rory about his spelling or pixel alignment. xD If we get any problems with possessives, Oxford commas or semi-colons etc. then I'll set up a list of writing standards on the development board.

  4. Dear Ninja, Nin Online is to be a game chock full of unique missions where the players have to be assigned from either a Jounin, Kage or Mission Assignment desk. Creating fun and engaging missions and side-missions are not a simple task. It can take hours or days of work for a complex one, and hours just to polish it and ensure its working fine. The systems are all in place for a team of hard working mission writers, and as such we are looking for people to take up the role! Role The Mission Writer is the person who is able to write and come up with unique missions based on Nin Online's storyline who is also able to learn the eventing system and work with it to create these experiences. The process will start with writing a storyline and proposing it, and then logging into the game and writing events and mission dialogues. The entire system is visual and does not require any scripting! The mission writer will also need to use placeholder graphics and request for the required graphics to be done by the art team. Requirements Above all, I am looking for dedication. You will need to invest a lot of time into learning the system, and once you've familiarized yourself with the system you will still need hours to complete a simple mission with polished dialogues. You need to have very good English writing abilities, large vocabulary and not be prone to sounding amateurish as a writer. You need to be fun. A lot of missions will require some comical style dialogues as opposed to sounding serious all the time. You need to know everything about the Naruto series to bring very realistic missions to live. If you are interested in this role, please contact me through PM. There are currently only 2 openings for this role, and you will be given a trial period before confirming you position on the team!

  7. smh this is more than we deserve ^_^ on a side note : Atrox is right about the light in the hokage building, weird love the anbu mask Kimi's wearing! doesn't it hide the id of the player yet? on the map "near the valley" - the big tree on the right - light's coming from above yet we see shadows from the leaves even though it's the biggest tree around, but it still gives a nice feeling to the surrounding the first pic - the building on the left - you can see through the left window and we see the grass (continuing from the bottom), like there's nothing in it >< but maybe that's the whole idea, my bad anyway, thx for the preview Rory, i'm even more eager to stay level 1 Academy Student and to just roam the land now!

  10. I suggest story writers make it a standard to mix both American and British version of words. Academy student player's pants become loose while chasing kittens Player: "Not my trousers!" --------------------------------- Elite Jounin Robin has faced countless enemies, but none more deadly than his latest foe. His now 8 month pregnant wife demanded he get her some chips. Upon arriving to the local supermarket he is faced with a tough decision. On his right, lies several bags of lays chips, and to the left he eyes a bag of neatly cut pieces of fried potatoes bathed in ketchup. He only has enough money for one, will he choose correctly? Or will he suffer through 3 more hours of incessant hysterical sobbing? Find out next time!

  11. So I assume the mission dialogues will be like the ramen shop thing you showed earlier: The npc will have a decently sized message saying something and the player will have a few responses, and based on how they respond the conversation changes slightly; ultimately it remains the same and relays the same information (unlike the ramen shop npc example), maybe with random references thrown in for people to find.
