We're going to be stuck with each other for a long time yet, theres something you need to know about me, I say what I feel on the net, , I won't keep my opinions to myself and become a meek cowardly lion on here. Expect more insults as you say they are, when they aren't, to come from me on many subjects. I'm here to stay, learn to love my crazy.

Anywho, I'm going o bow out of this topic like many of the others, I won't argue against my beliefs, I said nothing wrong, so Imma walk away while I still can.

What?

I thought we were talking about not wanting to permadie and have to spend forever to level over and over again which would be quite horrible for a level 100. But Rory's response subdued my doubts and once again makes me look forward to the game. BYOND isn't associated with this. I'm sure nobody really cares about GOA anymore since we know its finished forever. Comparing GOA to this doesn't make sense because we haven't even begun to play this. I'm sure Rory is aware of some of GOA's mistakes and doesn't need to be constantly told about them.

Alrighty, to end on what Rory has already answered numerous times, this is the ideal method of the RPE system. Everyone I suggest you just wait and see how it works than start going against it from how you're reading it. The system can still be improved or tinkered with accordingly. Gotta try it out first and see how it goes ;)

@Sipher Thanks for putting my thought into words on the first part :) I'm sorry if I am prejudiced against BYOND, I spent atleast 5 years on and off of BYOND. When I talk down on it, it isn't as an inexperienced BYOND lurker, I used to play games on it all the time. I was involved in GOA's development for awhile, designed the banners and look for BYOND Anime page which is where all the fan games used to be, and worked on quite a few others games there myself. I know how making games on DM is, and that's why I'm obliged to say, the engine is really bad. Have you seen how everyone flies around and you can only see where you are when you start moving, and where you stop? A a calculator made in an actual programming language is comparatively better than one done in a bad scripting language. I don't feel high and mighty over BYOND. I do feel sad that people don't see how bad it is as a tool to make actual games. I would say it's a good tool to learn at best. I wish people who are legitimately interested in making games even as a hobby, would find out, and learn to code In a real language. The people who call themselves iconners there, are obviously detached from any real pixel art community, the good spriters that are there, don't get their "iconning" skills there. When I was working on BYOND games, I think the reasons I stayed were that it was easy to actually make the game out, so more games got released than games made with real engines and that there was a large anime fan game community. The reason I stopped was realizing how bad the games on it were, if I wanted to make good art, I wouldn't want it on a bad game. Though I would not be surprised if some BYOND game creator starts ripping them for a BYOND project. But you are right as well, there are a lot of projects which show promise, and that I would go back and play if ever released like Spirit Age. They are pushing the engine to it's limits, and I'd like to see how that goes. If you know of any BYOND games that are released and are actually any good, post them here. I'll check them out. My view on the will remain until then. I apologize if I got it wrong about how the state of GOA was and the reason it died being that it didn't have proper or adequate staff/management. I was purely guessing. Edit: ah, I re-read your post. You didn't think I thought it was because of the staff. You were saying I thought it was because of the fact that is a BYOND game. I don't think it was like that at all.

I really am not a fan of player controlled Kage's personally. There's too much bullshit. I know I'll get hate for this because there's a lot of power hungry kiddies that want to be Kage etc.

The biggest thing that bothers me is cliche, boring, bad rp'ers. Especially if those rp'ers become a Kage etc. I think introducing some RP standards in the future would be good.

(The Orochimaru wannabe's, the Sasuke wannabe's etc. The people with no creativity that are just Mary Sue characters. The tragic rape backstories, etc. That will just hugely depreciate the game for those of us who want RP yanno?)

i understand your point tetsuo but most people who end up as kage will be players who are loved and trusted by the community and not these little kids with no imaganation

Yeah, I just hope they know how to RP cause I'm going to hate RP'ing with a Kage who has the depth of a piece of paper.

This is turning into an argumentative page than anything else, hehe. It's good for feedback and all but the random insults that this page is producing is getting kinda out of hand, not to point any fingers or anything but:

Irrelevant post is irrelevant.  Did you forget to take your crazy pills again?

For example isn't really helping or giving respectful criticism about the system.

My personal opinion on it is basically the same as @AkatsukiNick: Don't knock it till ye' try it!

Hello, I'm one of the developer's Keezus, as you can tell by my group(ing) title. I'm also known as Kappa, a GOA player/lover. I also originated from BYOND, and just about everything I know about pixel art and programming came from my 4 or 5 years spent on BYOND. This is just to let you know BYOND can (..and does) produce quality, voila.

On-topic: The feedback from the reasonable forum members should help with the RP events, and I'm liking the events so far.
